THE SOOTHSAYER STANDS IN HER ORACLE. SHE IS FORBIDDEN TO LEAVE HER ROOM FULL OF ORACLES FOR FEAR OF BEING PUNISHED FOR WITCHCRAFT.

BY REIMAGINING THE STYLISED AND DRAMATIC POSES DEPICTED ON CERTAIN TAROT CARDS, WE CREATED OUR OWN LIFE-SIZE TAROTS WITH THE CHARACTER OF THE CONTEMPORARY SOOTHSAYER.

FOR THIS COLLABORATION CENTRAL SAINT MARTINS KNITWEAR DESIGNER CECILY, HAS TAKEN INSPIRATION FROM TRIBAL SPIRITUAL HEALING TRADITIONS WHEREBY CERTAIN OBJECTS ARE ASSIGNED TALISMANIC QUALITIES. HER OBSESSION WITH SMALL OVERLOOKED OBJECTS THAT BECOME BEAUTIFUL WHEN THEY ARE DECONTEXTUALISED CAN BE SEEN WITHIN THE FABRIC OF HER GARMENTS, WHICH ARE MADE WITH CHICKEN FEET, NAILS AND PEANUTS.
